Contests, Promotions & Freebies for Families

Calling Creative Teens...

Teen Ink is a national teen magazine, book series, and website devoted entirely to teenage writing and art. It is distributed through classrooms by English teachers, Creative Writing teachers, Journalism teachers and art teachers around the country. If your teen is looking for a creative outlet (and some national recognition), Teen Ink's contests may be for him or her. Non-fiction, poetry, art, photography...these are some of the contests open to teens ages 13-19. Teen Ink is funded by the Young Authors Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization devoted to helping teens share their own voices, while developing reading, writing, creative and critical-thinking skills. Make History Come Alive: National History Day Contest

Encourage your young history buff to research issues and events related to the theme "Triumph & Tragedy in History." From local history to world history -- from ancient to modern times -- children in grades 6-12 are invited to create a documentary, paper or performance about a topic related to history and submit it to be eligible for awards and scholarships. This annual contest is sponsored by National History Day (NHD) an academic organization for elementary and secondary school students. For more information, visit www.NHD.org
