Preventing
Child Abuse
There
are many national organizations devoted to preventing child abuse
by providing information and support for parents and caregivers.
Did
you know?
-Child
abuse and neglect have no cultural, religious, ethnic or socioeconomic
boundaries.
-According
to national statistics, 3 children die every day in the United States
as a result of abuse. In fact, more young children die from physical
abuse than any other cause of death.
-Millions
of children in our country are victims of emotional abuse, sexual
abuse and neglect.
-While
over 3 million reports of suspected maltreatment and abuse are made
to child protective services each year, the actual incidence of
abuse and neglect is estimated to be three times greater than the
number reported to authorities.
