Information and Resources that Matter to You
Creating
A Healthy Home
As
concerned parents, we do everything we can to ensure that our children
are healthy and well. We take them to the doctor for physicals,
we make sure their seatbelts are buckled in the car, and we do our
best to serve balanced meals, acknowledging that sometimes ketchup
has to count as one of the major food groups.
But
there's another important aspect of our children's health that few
of us are truly informed about: keeping our kids safe from toxic
chemicals and creating a healthy home.
According
to the Children's Health Environmental Coalition, over 80,000 chemicals
have been developed since World War II and are found in household
cleaners, pesticides, plastics, personal care products, and industrial
products. Yet very little is known about the effects of these chemicals
on children's development. Researchers are finding that some chemicals
can cause damage to a child's developing brain, while others may
cause cancer or block hormones.
The
Children's Health Environmental Coalition has developed a website
for parents that promotes awareness about what's in your family's
air, food, water and commercial products.
Learn
something new about protecting your children and family from the
dangers of environmental toxins. Create a healthy home.
